Description

I was on that national team for kendo in Canada between the years of 2008-2019. I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Brazil, Italy, Belgium, Japan, Korea and various other international destinations for my training. Many wonderful physicians worked on my body to keep it in top shape. However, all of that came with a financial burden since our team had limited financial support. As an athlete, I was always seeking potential funding sources. Our team had applied for the “women’s champions grant” application but unfortunately did not get awarded the funding. Our friends, family, and kendo community had rallied together to share our application profiles in an effort to potentially boost our chances of acquiring the grant. I wanted to express my gratitude for their support with this fun animation that I ended up posting on my Instagram account. The girl (a low poly character version of the girls on the team) is wearing the red team Canada shirt that we had been selling as part of our fundraising efforts. On a happy note, our lack of funding didn’t stop us from clinching a spot on the podium. We ended up placing 3rd at the world championships!

Almost all the girls on the team wore black Nike runners, so I thought why not model my little character with some black Nike runners?
